Hunt for Gray Seal
This is the oldest type of hunting in North America. It was done by the original peoples of our land before the arrival of the Vikings - and it has been a traditional way of life for the white man since he arrived on our shores over 500 years ago. The Newfoundland Seal Hunt has provided meat and clothing, heat and light in our homes for years.
The gray seal hunt is available exclusively by JB Outfitters for non-resident clients.
The gray seal is a predator for the Atlantic salmon and cod. They eat massive amounts of cod species each year. There must be a balance in nature, both for mammals and man. At present time, there is an imbalance in nature. Adults range in size from: 400 - 800 pounds.
Season: From October 1st thru December 31st
Hunting Policy: Any animal wounded and lost in the process of the hunt, is owned by the hunter and the hunt for that animal is over. Wounded or dead, it is yours.
